In the aluminum strips for cable armoring, 5154A H22 is a medium-strength and tough aluminum strip specifically designed for high-speed automated armoring processes. 5154A H22 aluminum strip achieves an optimal balance between mechanical protection strength, cold bending formability, and mass production processing stability through precise control of the composition range and matching with the hardening annealing process. It is the performance upgrade option for armoring layers of medium and low voltage power cables, industrial control cables, and cables for special working conditions.

5154A belongs to the Al-Mg series of rust-resistant aluminum alloys. The magnesium content is strictly controlled within a narrow range of 3.2% to 3.8%. Compared to 5052 aluminum, the higher magnesium content gives the material superior basic strength reserves. At the same time, by reducing the upper limit of impurity elements such as iron and silicon and optimizing the distribution of grain boundary precipitates, the risk of microcrack initiation during high-speed cold working is reduced from the material's origin. The H22 temper corresponds to a heat treatment regime of "work hardening + low-temperature partial annealing," which retains the strength gains from cold rolling while effectively eliminating rolling stress. This gives the material both stable resistance to deformation and excellent bending plasticity, perfectly matching the process characteristics of spiral wrapping and longitudinal forming for cable armor, avoiding the process pain points of hard materials being prone to cracking and soft materials being prone to collapse.

From the perspective of core performance parameters, the 5154A H22 aluminum strip for cable armouring has a tensile strength stable at 180~215MPa, a specified non-proportional elongation strength of not less than 110MPa, an elongation after fracture ≥14%, and a minimum bending radius of 1.2 times the strip thickness at room temperature. This performance is designed with specific needs in mind: Its mechanical protection capability is superior to that of 5052 aluminum strip in the same temper, and it can withstand stronger soil compression and external drag. At the same time, its bending flexibility is superior to the higher-hardness H32 temper product, allowing it to tightly conform to the cable core contour during wrapping, and reducing the likelihood of process defects such as wrinkling, warping, and edge cracking. The material surface spontaneously forms a dense alumina passivation film, exhibiting excellent resistance to atmospheric and soil corrosion. It maintains structural integrity for extended periods under conditions such as coastal salt spray and damp underground burial, with no risk of rust or peeling. It meets most outdoor and underground laying requirements without the need for additional anti-corrosion treatment.

For the mass production needs of high-speed armored cable production lines in the cable industry, 5154A H22 aluminum strip undergoes strict control over plate shape and dimensional accuracy during production. Standardized mass-produced aluminum strip for for cable armoring products have a thickness tolerance within ±0.01mm, a width deviation ≤±0.05mm, and an edge burr height ≤0.03mm. The roll end faces are neat, without towering or interlayer misalignment. Stable dimensional accuracy and uniform mechanical properties allow for compatibility with high-speed continuous winding equipment, reducing downtime due to strip breakage and misalignment, effectively improving cable production efficiency and finished product qualification rate. Simultaneously, this alloy is naturally non-magnetic, completely eliminating eddy current losses and hysteresis heating caused by alternating power frequency magnetic fields, reducing cable operating temperature rise, delaying insulation aging, and ensuring long-term power transmission stability.

Haomei Aluminum offers a full range of 5154A H22 aluminum strip for cable armoring in thicknesses from 0.2mm to 1.0mm and widths from 20mm to 1250mm. The entire alloy smelting and annealing process is under strict control to ensure that the mechanical property deviation between different batches is controlled within 3%. Products conform to international standards such as ASTM B209 and EN 573, and are widely compatible with the armoring protection needs of power cables, mining cables, and marine engineering cables worldwide.
